How this was measured

CMS overall hospital star rating (1 to 5), from the Hospital General Information file. The rating summarizes up to five groups of measures (mortality, safety, readmission, patient experience, timely and effective care); it is not a patient review. Shares are of rated hospitals only, one row per CMS facility number. States with fewer than 10 rated hospitals are not ranked.
